  4. Before check-in at departure, scan your passport and form at the E-VAT refund kiosk or go to the refund counter.
  5. If the kiosk says so, show the goods to customs, then collect your refund.

Where to validate: At the E-VAT refund kiosk or tax refund service counter at your departure airport or port, before check-in.

Not refundable

  • Goods opened or used in Taiwan
  • Goods not carried out with you

Worth knowing

  • Apply before check-in; if customs has not approved the claim before you leave, you get nothing.
  • The refund operator keeps about 14% of the VAT, so expect about 4% of the price back.
