Minimum basis: Per export voucher, including VAT (the voucher total must exceed EUR 75)

Who can claim

  • You live outside the EU. Residents of Great Britain qualify; residents of Northern Ireland do not.
  • You show proof of residence and your travel dates when you buy.

How to get the money back

  1. At the till, show proof that you live outside the EU and your travel dates, and sign the export voucher.
  2. Keep the goods unused and in your hand luggage if you can.
  3. Have the voucher certified at your last EU exit point before check-in; show any item costing EUR 2,000 or more to a customs officer.
  4. Send or hand the certified voucher to the store or refund operator to get your money.

Where to validate: At your LAST EU exit point, before check-in. At Irish airports this is customs or the refund operator's desk; items of EUR 2,000 or more must be shown to customs.

Deadline: Goods must leave the EU by the last day of the third month after the month of purchase.

Paid out as: Card; Cash at airport operator desk (fee applies)

Visiting several EU countries? Validate at your last EU exit, wherever you bought the goods.

Not refundable

  • Services (hotels, meals, car hire)
  • Goods used before departure

Worth knowing

  • Customs only certifies the voucher if your ticket takes you out of the EU within the time limit.
  • Flying to Great Britain counts as leaving the EU, so you can validate in Dublin.
