Who can claim

  • You are 16 or older on the date of purchase.
  • You are not a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, and not crew on the flight you leave on.

How to get the money back

  1. Shop at a store with the Tourist Refund Scheme sign and spend at least S$100 including GST.
  2. Show your passport (and e-Visit Pass) in person and ask for an eTRS ticket linked to your card or passport.
  3. At Changi or Seletar, if you check the goods in, use an eTRS kiosk in the departure check-in hall before check-in.
  4. If you hand-carry the goods, use an eTRS kiosk in the departure transit area after immigration.
  5. If the kiosk tells you to, show the goods at the customs inspection counter, then choose your refund method.

Where to validate: At an eTRS self-help kiosk at Changi or Seletar Airport (check-in hall for checked goods, transit area for hand-carried goods), or at the eTRS kiosk at the cruise terminal.

Deadline: Take the goods out of Singapore within 2 months of purchase, through Changi or Seletar Airport.

Paid out as: Card; Cash at Changi GST Cash Refund Counter; E-wallet (e.g. Alipay)

Not refundable

  • Goods wholly or partly used in Singapore
  • Services
  • Goods exported for business

Worth knowing

  • Buy with your passport in hand; the retailer must issue the eTRS ticket at purchase.
  • Cash refunds above S$7,500 carry an admin fee of S$100-200; a card refund avoids it.
